While their debut Geography veered more toward experimental electronic terrain, No Comment streamlined their vision into something more physical, brooding and militant. Picked up by the groundbreaking American label Wax Trax for this release in 1985, their fusion of industrial aggression and electronic funk began resonating with a broader audience. Tracks like 'Commando Mix' and 'No Shuffle' became underground staples, defined by cold sequenced basslines, martial rhythms and the chilling authority of Jean-Luc De Meyer's vocals. 'Special Forces' exemplifies their command of slow, mechanical tension with a grim, gear-grinding anthem of control and power. The liner notes on original release underscore the historic first usage of the term "Electronic Body Music," validating Front 242's pioneering role in shaping the genre. With their first international tour and increasingly theatrical live shows to support, No Comment made a statement that influenced generations of electronic artists to come.
