Sometimes known as needles or styli, styluses are the contact point between your turntable’s tonearm and the record itself. For any vinyl DJ, good styluses are truly essential not just for sound quality, but to avoid skipping and to help minimise record wear.
Generally speaking, the best DJ styluses are designed for specific brands’ cartridges, so for example you’ll need an Ortofon stylus for an Ortofon cartridge. Third-party brands like Tonar and Kyowa also make compatible styluses for Stanton and Shure cartridges.
It’s also worth knowing that there are two main types of stylus – spherical and elliptical – which have slightly different shapes at the needle tip. As a general rule of thumb, elliptical styluses offer better sound quality but aren’t well suited to scratching or back-cueing, whereas spherical styluses sacrifice a tiny bit of fidelity but are more versatile if you’re DJing rather than just playing records.

Jico Shure N-44-7 Aurora Nude Conical DJ Stylus For J-44A-7 Aurora (pair, glow in the dark) (DJ styluses)

The entire tip of a NUDE Stylus is composed of diamond, as opposed to bonded tips.
Notes: The N-44-7 stylus offers a brighter sound than the N-44G stylus that is included with the J44D, with a thicker bass sound-the same difference as with the SHURE 44 cartridges.
JICO has followed the structure of the SHURE products to release the alternative replacement. Not only the sound output is as close to the SHURE M44 cartridge models but the tracking ability of the J44 performs as the same with sticking to a record groove with high jump/skip resistance and low record wear.
**Glows in the dark**
The tracking force is slightly heavier than genuine Shure products, to reduce jump during scratches.
JICO replacement styli for Shure N-44-7, the tracking force of which is the same as genuine Shure N-44-7 ( 1.5 - 3.0 g ), are also available.
The AURORA type styli use the material which glows in the dark for the plastic resin part. It allows for enhanced visibility and adds a bit of flair to the DJ booth with a fluorescent stylus.

**Glows in the dark**
The tracking force is slightly heavier than genuine Shure products, to reduce jump during scratches.
JICO replacement styli for Shure N-44-7, the tracking force of which is the same as genuine Shure N-44-7 ( 1.5 - 3.0 g ), are also available.
The AURORA type styli use the material which glows in the dark for the plastic resin part. It allows for enhanced visibility and adds a bit of flair to the DJ booth with a fluorescent stylus.
